What are you missing but what have you found?



Today I was chatting with a friend. We were talking about all the uncertainty that's going on right now and the things we miss as a result. For example, I miss going to Target this time of year to explore the 'back to school' items; I miss getting together with friends; I miss going on adventures with the kids during our summer break. The list could go on ... and so too would the melancholy to go with it.


The reality is that this new 'normal' is not one I hope we have to adjust to forever. I don't like it - there, I said it!! I miss so much and realize how many things I probably took for granted.


AND ...


It's o.k. to not like something, to be sad, and to miss things. We don't have to like it ... it's about how we handle it. You see, as I've shared before, there is always a silver lining to be found. I know, you probably don't want to hear that right now but it's true!!! Every situation has something positive within it ... it's all about how we decide to view it. Of course, the reality is easier said than done AND it's possible!!


So today, my challenge is to come up with 3 things that you've gained as a result of this pandemic ... and no, I'm not talking about the number on the scale!! ;) What positive things have you learned about yourself? Maybe you've discovered a new hobby? Perhaps you've enjoyed the additional gift of time with family! I DARE you to write down 3 things that make you smile about life with COVID and post them on your mirror to remind yourself that as much as you miss a slew of things, there are still positives to be found.
