So recently we were playing out in the yard and my two kids decided to climb some of the trees. It was amazing to watch how fearless they were as they climbed higher and higher, no worries or apprehension as they scaled as high as they could. I loved watching and was reminded so much about the gift of trees - not just the ability to climb them!!
You see first of all, trees give us the gift how practicing how to be fearless, how to take risks, and how to trust that we can find a way if we seek it out. The branches are there, with limbs reaching out and guiding the way.
Second, there are beautiful leaves that require oxygen. When life gets crazy, sometimes we forget to stop and breathe and enjoy the beauty of life and so those leaves or flowers remind us to take in what they give out.
Next, it reminds us of the importance of support - you see, that strong trunk supports the branches that allow my kids to climb, much like my faith in God is a strong support that holds me up. Without that strong foundation, the limbs would fall and without my faith in God, well let's just say it has held me up through many of life's adventures!!
Finally, there are the roots that ensure the tree gets all the nourishment it needs. In that I'm reminded of the importance of family and friends and the love they provide to keep me grounded, as well as the importance of nourishing my body in the way that it needs.
So today I challenge you to seek out a tree and appreciate what it means and I DARE you to be brave and climb up, even if it's just one step!!! Go on, you can do it and as you do, celebrate the gift of life and all the adventure that it brings with incredible support along the way!
