The Climb

Growing up in Wales, I was blessed to look out of my bedroom window and see the most beautiful mountain range. I took it for granted in many ways, but loved to look over and spot the peaks I had either ridden my bike on or others that I had walked up. The view at the top was amazing and yet, as. I think back, that's not what made the journey itself so wonderful. No. In fact, the fun I had along the way is what I remember, the memories associated with the climb up ... and that's how it should be!!
Now, before you break out in the hit song "The Climb" and get it stuck in your head, think about this! You see, there are days we travel through that we wonder what on earth is going on and question whey we have to go through what we are. There seems nothing logical about it and we even utter the words 'it's not fair', or question 'why me?'. But I am realizing that the journey of life is much like my climb up Welsh mountains. It's the journey itself that provides opportunities to grow and learn and that, once I've traveled those paths, can look back and see ways I have changed for the better as a result. Of course, not all experiences are positive and at the same time, I still find that if I look closely enough, there is some lesson I have taken from whatever I faced.
So today I DARE you to enjoy this ride called life. No matter what you're facing, what road you're traveling, take a breath and step back to notice what's around you. You'll find there is beauty in the moment that is far greater than the destination you're aiming for and as such, is worth appreciating!!
Here's to the journeys - long may they continue!
