Sweet Serenity

So one of my favorite prayers is The Serenity Prayer. I have it on my wall, on a ring, and on a bracelet! The words that have always stuck out to me are Serenity, Courage, and Wisdom - these 3 things guiding me in a lot of what I do in life. Recently, however, I took some time to go back and read the full version and I'd forgotten the important words that follow the initial prayer. It says:
Living one day at a time,
Enjoying one moment at a time,
Accepting hardship as the pathway to peace.
Taking, as He did, this sinful world as it is,
Not as I would have it.
Trusting that He will make all things right
if I surrender to His will.
That I may be reasonably happy in this life,
And supremely happy with Him forever in the next.
Amen.
It can be tough to live in the moment, let alone the day, and yet that is all God has promised us - today. What this prayer goes on to remind us though is that if we 'enjoy one moment at a time' we CAN "be reasonably happy in this life". He will be with us and guide us and ensure that whatever we navigate through is temporary and we'll find peace through that hardship.
So today I challenge you to live in THIS day only, remembering it's all you have. And I DARE you to do one thing today that makes you happy and smile - maybe watch a funny movie, sit outdoors, drive with the windows down, just something that reminds you what an awesome day this is.
Me ... I'm going to go out on a bike ride and enjoy the beautiful weather. Life is good .... enjoy the adventure!
