No foul language should come from your mouth, but only what is good for building up someone in need, so that it gives grace to those who hear. Ephesians 4:29
I’ve already admitted that I’m a technology geek, well I have another thing to add to that list and that’s crafting! It’s a passion and gets to incorporate so many of the things I love to do! Well, I recently got myself a new ‘toy’ - aptly named the Cricut Joy. This tiny, but mighty machine is a delight on so many levels but particularly at its ability to make cards super fast!!
Ever since I was little, I’ve enjoyed writing notes or sending cards to people. O.K. Disclaimer: I don’t like to write thank-you notes because I have to use my ‘best’ handwriting!! Anyway, this sweet machine helps me pop out a card in no time and I feel a surge of card making about to happen. Of course, once you have cards, then you have to mail them and brighten someone’s day - right?!!
While sometimes I think that technology has brought us many gifts, one thing that it has taken away is the art of sending ‘snail mail’!! Yet a card can have so much more meaning than a text message or email and is something physical that can be picked up and looked at over and over, filled with messages of love, encouragement, sorrow, or celebration.
God encourages us to use our words “for building up someone in need, so that it gives grace to those who hear”. He knows the impact words can have and in His own way, will communicate with us. However, the one thing that the Big Guy isn’t able to do is send a card in the mail and that’s where YOU come in!!
Today I challenge you to write a card, a note, or a letter. Yes, that’s right, I want you to send a physical note of encouragement to someone and remind them of how amazing they are, how their beauty shines through in all they do, or to not get discouraged. Do this in God’s love and know that your words will flow because He is guiding the pen.
Go on, I DARE you to find a piece of paper, a notecard, or even make one and then put it in the mailbox to bring a smile to someone’s face. Oh, and don’t worry about it being your ‘best’ handwriting - the card will be a blessing no matter how fancy or plain!! As for me, off to make some more cards!!
