Rainbows and stars

"When it rains look for rainbows and when it's dark, look for stars"

2020 has not been what you would call a 'typical' year by any stretch of the imagination and has challenged us in ways that we couldn't have imagined!! Today I was realizing that by the time my kids go back to school, they will have not seen their friends for 5 months - crazy!! With all this, it can be easy to get caught up in melancholy and lose sight of the positives. I know, you're probably thinking 'here she goes again with looking for silver linings'!!!!!

Here's the thing. Just as this quote reminds us, every negative has an opposite positive if we only remember to seek it out. Rain isn't fun EXCEPT it brings us rainbows! Nighttime becomes bright BECAUSE of the stars!! The list could go on but the fact of the matter is, when we take time to look, there is always a positive.

So today I DARE you to think of something that feels negative for you right now. Then, write it down and come up with the opposite thing that is a positive to go along with it. For example, my children haven't seen their friends in 5 months; my children have learned to play togethermuch-needed and truly developed their imaginary play.

Go on, try it and you'll be amazed at how your shift in perspective can bring a much needed smile your way!!
