Wait for the LORD; be strong and take heart and wait for the LORD. Psalm 27:14
Have you ever been on the way somewhere, feeling really nervous or apprehensive, unsure what to expect when you reached the destination? Or maybe you were starting a new job and it was your first day and your nerves were dancing away in your stomach? Well, today was one of those days for me and let's just say those butterflies were busy!!
The cool thing I've realized, however, is that God seems to know when those moments are and somehow, in His special way, gives us a sign to remind us that He's there with us and holding our hand to support us. For me, that came in the perfect song on the radio for the last 5 minutes of my drive and I knew once I got there that I had all I needed within me and not to fear. Now granted, for the first few minutes my hands were still a little shaky AND I knew that with God beside me, there was nothing to fear.
God realizes that we may need these signs and encourages us to be open to them. We're told"Wait for the LORD; be strong and take heart and wait for the LORD." You see, God says we'll get the signs, the only reality is the timing is not on our schedule. Today, for me, it came perfectly but it could just have easily not showed up. At that point do we give up and quit? Absolutely not!! We continue to trust in His presence and know that sometimes what we need may come at the completely unexpected time - the trusting being the tough part, let's be real!
So today I challenge you to think of a time when God demonstrated His perfect timing and then journal about it so the next time you are in need and wonder why He's not answered, you can pull it out as a reminder. I DARE you to put it in your wallet or purse as a constant reminder of the Big Guy's timing because I'm sure at some point you'll need it!
I'm grateful that today the song came right when I needed it and that happened to be on my drive there. Who knows, next time I may not get it in the timing I need AND that's ok!! Here's to perfect timing .... GOD'S perfect timing, not mine!!
