Five Minutes


I love this time of year in Florida. The weather today was perfect and we sat out by the pool, watching the kids play in the yard and the dogs enjoying just laying in the grass. As I sat and watched, I couldn't help but think about how relaxed I felt and how awesome that feeling was. If I could have bottled it, I would have!!


The thing about relaxing and taking care of ourselves is that we struggle to do it - well, most of us! It's almost like we have to actually schedule time for ourselves on our busy calendar in order to fit it in and even then, we don't prioritize it.


Tonight, my 'self-care' came completely unexpected and yet, was a welcome visitor. I realized in that moment that sometimes, it is the most simplest of things that we value the most and that serve us best. Sure, I love a massage, a pedicure, or a walk on the beach as much as the next person but self-care doesn't always have to be a big production. 5 minutes in my back yard felt like I'd been away for 5 hours!!


So tonight I DARE you to go sit outside for 5 minutes and just be. Enjoy the surroundings, the fresh air, and nature in all it's glory and let the world outside disappear. You'll be amazed at what 5 minutes can do and who knows, maybe next time you'll even make it 10!!
