If you know my husband, you'll know that he is a big car guy ... and that's an understatement!! As as a result, our kids have grown to love cars too and especially love going for a ride with Daddy in "Slimer". Yes, our cars have names, doesn't everyone name their cars?!!!
Recently, a favorite thing has been for my 2 boys to go for a drive after dinner and it invariably leads to Stephen falling asleep. I think the combination of the repetitive sound and vibrations of the motor are probably what cause it and I also can't help but think it's because of how safe and secure he feels.
Trust. It can be hard to let go and trust someone else to take the lead and yet, that is what God asks us to do. We have the need to feel like we're in charge of everything and forget the gift of allowing someone else to step in.
In some ways, I'm a little jealous of Stephen and his ability to sit back and sleep AND I know that it's a blessing that he trusts his Daddy so much that he's able to do this. Do you feel this way about your Father - the Big Guy Himself?
So today I challenge you to think of one thing you are willing to let go of and hand over to God. I DARE you to write it down and then throw it in the trash to symbolize you've given it over to Him. (And no going dumpster diving to get it back!!!)
Here's to being a passenger sometimes and allowing life to lead the way!!
