So this afternoon I was enjoying some relaxing craft time with my daughter. We were totally engrossed, having fun being creative, and well .... it was awesome! But then, out of nowhere this piercing sound blasted and disrupted everything. On further investigation, it was our alarm to warn there was a gas leak and so yes, we had a visit from the fire department to make sure we were safe!! The good news was that it was a false alarm, but I have to admit I was grateful that we have such an annoyance that keeps us safe!
It got me thinking. Sometimes we need an alarm to remind us when we're heading down a path that may not be the right one for us. And yet, do we? You see, I truly believe that every journey we take has a purpose - even those journeys that are not fun at the time. We grow and learn from every opportunity we are given and there is a silver lining to be found in every experience of life ... if we look for it.
Alarms are wonderful things and they certainly serve a purpose. Yet there is something to be said for spontaneity and experiencing life head-on. So today I DARE you to do something that you hadn't planned on ... call on a friend, go for a walk, or grab a magazine and relax and read it. Whatever it is, just be in the moment and experience it!
I'm grateful we didn't have a gas leak and know that the alarm served its purpose today. And you know what, even though our crafting got disrupted, we still had fun swimming in the pool together while the fire department checked things out!
