Beauty and a smile

Life is fast-paced and, if you’re anything like me, is often filled with so many things in a day that we almost forget to take time and breathe. Stress and anxiety can creep in and before we know it, that overwhelmed feeling has crept in and we lose sight of the simple things that are truly important.
As Prout says, “there are so many beautiful reasons to be happy” yet, in the midst of chaos, we lose sight of those things. The key is to taking time each day, even if it’s only 5 minutes, and finding at least one thing that you’re grateful for or that brings a smile to your face.
So today I DARE you to do just that. Take five minutes and wherever you are, just look around. Notice the sights, the smells, the sounds, and find one thing that stands out to you. Now before you start letting that Negative Nancy creep in and notice all the things that aren’t done, remind yourself that this is about finding the beauty. So, for example, perhaps you look past that pile of laundry and see the beauty of the fact you have a washing machine to get your clothes clean; maybe you forget that there are dirty dishes in the sink and appreciate the yummy meal that you got to enjoy. The key is finding the beauty!!
Yes, you’re probably saying that I’m being ridiculous and how can I be so upbeat. Well, let’s get real. I don’t always succeed in finding the positive AND when I make myself do it, well my day can be turned around completely!!
So here’s to finding the beauty in the world around us and if all else fails, go look in the mirror because you’ll see true beauty staring right back at you!!
