A whole new world!!

So when my daughter was 6 months old, we discovered that she had a rice allergy. Yes, that's right - rice!! It was definitely challenging trying to find foods for a young infant when rice was not a possibility and we've steered clear of it ever since .... until now!! You see, they told us that she would hopefully grow out of it but the only way to test it as to eat it!! We've not been brave enough to take the risk of trying it, especially due to covid and wanting to avoid a trip to the hospital, but today that all changed!!

Today we took a big, giant risk. Yes, you guessed it .... my sweet girl tried rice. She was beyond excited to first try some ice cream cake that had rice flour in and there was no reaction. So at lunch, we became even braver and tried actual rice. I was a nervous wreck for the next 2 hours, wondering if she would get sick, would a trip to the ER be in our future .... all those 'what ifs' that we allow to run through our mind. AND, guess what? She was totally o.k. and there were no reactions whatsoever!!!

It's like a whole new world has opened up. All those foods we've had to avoid that contained rice or rice flour are now.back on the table and to say she's a little excited is an understatement!! It got me thinking .... not only about the whole taking risks thing, but also how a whole new world becomes open to us when we do actually take those risks and how exciting and exhilarating that can be!!

So today I DARE you to try something new. Yup, take a risk and be brave for you don't know what is waiting the other side!! Maybe you'll try a new food; maybe you'll go try some new hobby you've been thinking about, or perhaps you'll actually try taking some time for you. But whatever you decide, just do it and trust that a whole new and exciting world is about to open up that will be truly amazing!!

Here's to our continuous adventure into the world of rice products and the excitement of new things!
